What to See in Halle?
The city of Halle is filled with places that will interest you. The old city of Halle is certainly one of the places that you must visit while you are there. The old city is renowned for being built with the wrong plan; the buildings there go back to the medieval era. The Red Tower is another thing you must visit; it is located in the “Marktplatz” square, where there is also a statue of the famous composer George Frederic Handel, as well as the Church of Mary (the “Marienkirche”), which is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Halle also contains one of the most important palaces in Germany, which has since been converted into a museum, a cathedral, and a university.
A favorite place to walk in the city is the market square (the “Marktplatz”), surrounded by many beautiful historical buildings. The square is full of popular restaurants and various cultural events. For example, in one of the historic buildings built in 1708, there is the Beatles Museum. The Beatles were a British rock band from Liverpool in the 1960s and became one of the largest and most successful musical ensembles in the history of popular music.
Another place which is not to forget is the Halloren Chocolate Factory in Halle. This is the first chocolate factory in Germany, founded in 1804. There you will be impressed by the history of chocolate production and the incredible ways of making delicious chocolate. The entrance fee includes samples of the delicious chocolate too. You will also find a gift shop filled with delicious products made on-site at affordable prices.
The Halle Zoo! is the only zoo in the city, containing over 1,700 animals on nine hectares, with special enclosures for elephants, crocodiles, and other predators, all integrated into the hillside upon which the zoo is built. By being on the hill, you also have a beautiful view of the very green city. The zoo is centrally located in the middle of the city and has many restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues for children.
