What Can I Do During My Time Volunteering In Germany?

You have the opportunity to do a lot of different things. Normally, we start the day with breakfast at the Center.  Staff, volunteers, interns, and students share stories and talk about the day or week plans. As a volunteer in Germany, you will be kindly asked to teach some conversational English courses and help other teachers do so. Additionally, we would like to ask you to write some articles about the center and volunteering in Germany.

Furthermore, as a volunteer, you will receive 3 hours of Arabic or German language, and you can choose which language you want to learn. The Center also organizes visits to different sites in the city of Halle. Finally, you will have the opportunity to meet new people including Germans, Arabs, immigrants, and refugees, and also engage with them in different activities.

Who Can Join These Short-term Volunteer Programs?

In general, the Volunteer in Germany Short-term is suitable for people who:

• Aged 18-75 years old.

Not really.  Good English skills are sufficient; the main language at Engage in Germany is English. Of course, speaking German is an extra advantage but you will be alright with the English language.

The Center organizes language courses so you will get 3 hours of Spoken German to be able to communicate with people during your time in Germany.

Do I Need A Visa To Volunteer In Germany?

People from other EU countries, the USA, Australia, Canada, Japan, the UK, and many others do not need to apply for a visa in advance, you will get a tourist visa on arrival for three months and you can volunteer in Germany with it. People from Africa, some Asian countries, the Middle East, and South America need a visa to enter Germany, they can apply also for a tourist visa. Engage in Germany will help by providing an invitation letter.

Who Will Participate In Engage in Germany Short-Term?

The Volunteering in Germany program would be a perfect choice for college, and university students who are looking for short-term volunteering in the Germany program. Additionally, it is suitable for people who have a job and would like to make a short trip (Vacation) to Germany. What Is The Best Time To Apply For Volunteering In Germany?

It is strongly recommended to apply for the program and reserve your spot in the program for 2 weeks to 6 months in advance. You can book your spot in the program by filling out a form and paying the application fee.

Halle is a city located in the southern region of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Halle is an economic and educational center in eastern Germany. The University of Halle-Wittenberg for example is the largest in Saxony-Anhalt and one of the oldest universities in Germany.

Halle has an elegant city center, many green areas, and many narrow streets where architecture has been preserved. There are many beautiful places along the Saale River which runs through the city. Do I Need A Visa To Come To Germany? 

It depends. Regarding the issue of needing a visa to enter Germany or to join one of the internships offered by Engage in Germany, you need to be aware of the following: 

• If you are coming from a European country that has signed the Schengen agreement, then you do not need a visa to enter Germany. 
• For those who come from countries that are a part of this program, you are permitted to stay in Germany for up to three months.
• All other travelers will need to apply for a Schengen visa to enter Germany. 
• This visa will allow you to enter and stay in Germany for a maximum period of 3 months (90 days). 
• It is important to note that this visa prohibits visa-holders from getting a job (even as a freelance) during their stay.

Do I Need Either To Speak Arabic Or German To Apply?

Nope! During your time in Halle, you will be provided with three hours a week of either German or Arabic lessons with one of our teachers. What Does A Day At The Center Look Like? 

The daily life of our interns at the center looks like the following: 

• Breakfast at 10:00 am where all participants sit at one table. The breakfast is a great chance for our participants to get to know each other and have a fun time before their day starts. 
• After that, the participants start to do their tasks which include the chosen program. After that participants have their lunch where either they cook themselves at the center or they go out and eat outside at one of the nearby restaurants. 
• After lunch, participants join their Arabic or German classes with one of our qualified teachers till the center closes at 6 pm.
