The period of participation can span anywhere from 1 to 13 weeks. For volunteers, interns, and students, Engage in Germany’s program flexibility is designed to work around their schedules, with programs being available year-round (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) and starting and ending dates up to the participant’s choice!

Flexible Booking

At Engage in Germany, we understand that things change.  As such, our programs are incredibly flexible in case you need to alter travel plans or simply change your heart. As programs begin at the center year-round (with flexible start and end dates), you decide your arrival. Furthermore, you’re able to change your start date entirely free of charge if requested at least two weeks beforehand.

How Long are the Internships in Germany?   

Internships in Germany via Engage in Germany in Halle generally last one to three months. The programs are very flexible. You can apply to programs anytime! We host people during summer, winter, autumn, and spring terms.

Summer Internships – Volunteer Abroad

While the volunteer program in Germany is available all year, the Summer is the most advantageous and exciting time to apply. With a team from all around the world, Engage in Germany is rife with students throughout May, June, July, and August, making it the perfect time to Intern after graduation.

The program includes a language course (3 hours of German per week), responsibilities as an English Teacher, housing, logistic help, breakfast 4 days a week, and an immersive experience in our community in Halle. The program can last between 1-13 weeks- as you decide for yourself. Winter Volunteer Programs

Engage in Germany offers winter volunteer and internship programs which start from October to late March for the people who would like to come to Europe to volunteer, study a new language, and meet new cultures and people. Volunteers and interns can stay from 1-13 weeks.

Language Requirements 

All internships in Germany at Engage in Germany. You don’t need to speak German or Arabic to participate in internship programs in Germany, but you will be expected to speak English well enough to teach language classes and communicate with the Center’s staff.

Life in Halle (Saale), Germany

Life in Germany, and Halle in particular, is something everyone must experience for themselves. International volunteers, students, and interns at Engage in Germany are given many opportunities to experience life in Halle through cultural immersion with Germans, refugees, immigrants, and other internationals.

International visitors to Germany can live with German or Arab host families and see the life of local or immigrant families by engaging with them daily, playing with children, learning how to cook, and eating traditional foods. Some other things international visitors to Germany can do during their stay in Halle (Saale) include visiting the charming old city (Marktplatz) or going to many of the traditional cafes or Shisha bars which are around the Marketplace and not far at all from Engage in Germany.

On their days off or weekends, visitors can visit other German cities such as Leipzig, Berlin, Dresden, Weimer, Munich, and others. You can also easily travel by bus or train to other European countries, such as the Czech Republic (4 hours bus ride) or the Netherlands (6 hours bus ride), at an affordable price.

Visa to Germany

If you are coming from a European country that has signed the Schengen agreement, then you do not need a visa to enter Germany. For those who come from countries that are a part of this program, you are permitted to stay in Germany for up to three months.

All other travelers will need to apply for a Schengen visa to enter Germany. This visa will allow you to enter and stay in Germany for a maximum period of 3 months (90 days). It is important to note that this visa prohibits visa-holders from getting a job (even as a freelance) during their stay.
